Situation
We registered a major outage of the old Freescale WLAN system. As far as we can see, the system is completely unable to provide a Wi-Fi connection for users since 2022-03-01 00:00.
We are working on finding the cause of the problem.
Updates
- 2022-03-03 22:00 – We have concluded that the outage might have been cause by Ethernet connectivity issues between the WLAN controllers and the WLAN APs. Some parts of the system still experience minor issues, which don't really seem to be releated to the Ethernet connectivity issues.
- 2022-03-01 12:23 – We have received reports that at the same time the WLAN system had an outage, the LAN connection in house E did as well, but no direct connection between these two incidents is known.
- 2022-03-01 11:12 – It seems some deeper network layer caused the access points to lose the connection to our controllers completely. The exact cause for this, however, is yet unknown.
- 2022-03-01 10:55 – We are seeing improvements, as access points go online again and clients start reconnecting. The increased bandwidth usage (compared to during the outage) indicates that the system starts working again.
