Sunsetting of the FreeScale WiFi (House A)
3 weeks from now 2026-09-30 22:00 UTCUpcomingWe are shutting down our old WiFi system (FreeScale-WiFi) on 2026-10-01. This WiFi system is currently only used in House A. All other houses are not affected by this change!
After this date, the usage of the FeM-Net in house A is only possible via LAN or with a private router. Please keep in mind, that the usage of registered private routers (without NAT, AP mode enabled) is only allowed in accordance with the Terms of Use in houses A, N, P and houses in the Professor-Philippow-Str.
If you have any questions, please open a ticket in our helpdesk at https://helpdesk.fem.tu-ilmenau.de/.
Affected Components: Wireless (Freescale system)
Past incidents
No incidents reported.
Fixed
This incident has been resolved.
Reported
We've had another rolling DHCP outage.
Investigations for a cause are still ongoing.
Reported
DHCP doesn't function properly for new devices in some VLANs
Maintenance on virtualization hosts
In this timeframe, the cause of a failing NVME drive will be investigated, which requires a shut down of the host is required.
Most of the affected virtual machines are redundant and should not impact user traffic.
Helpdesk Maintenance
We are performing software updates for our helpdesk website. This will cause a downtime of approx. 5 minutes.
Fixed
This incident has been resolved. Ticket creation over the web interface is possible again
Reported
The creation of support tickets in our helpdesk is currently not possible via the web interface.
To open a ticket please send us an email to helpdesk@fem.tu-ilmenau.de.
Fixed
The situation has normalized again. This incident has been resolved
Investigating
We are seeing a high amount of active connections on some of the NAT nodes. We are investigating.
Watching
Our NAT-systems have been restartet, IPv4 connections seem to operate. We are monitoring the situation.
Reported
We are experiencing issues with IPv4-Connectivity in House C.
No incidents reported.
Fixed
We have restored the WiFi system operation.
Identified
We have identified an outage in the management system for the WiFi. This causes authentication problems, which prevent clients from connecting to the network.
Reported
The new Aruba WiFi system powering the WiFi in all houses except A and CJD is experiencing connection issues. We are investigating to determine the full impact of this outage and possible sources.
Fixed
The system seems to have stabilized and is no longer causing performance issues.
Watching
The system seems to have stabilized in the last minutes. We are watching the system state and will inform about any updates.
Investigating
We are still investigating this issue. Network usage is partially impacted.
Reported
We have observed increased load and performance issues on our main network management system. The issue appears to originate from the old DHCP system creating too many database connections.
The issue has rendered the network management web interfaces practically unusable and the authentication to the network extremely slow. This mainly impacts users trying to (re-)connect to the network.
We have performed a reboot of the old DHCP system. This seems to have resolved the issue.
